Teething necklaces are made of Baltic Amber; in theory when a baby wears it, their body heat triggers the release of a minute amount of oil that contains succinic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the body. I cleansed the necklace and also done a karakia before putting around my moko.

I also found that a kawakawa and clove creme works wonders, if you want something extra to rub on his gums.
