They light diyas and give presents to their loved ones. The lights are a symbol of virtue, innocence and prosperity.
Observed over a five day period and around the time of the Amavasya moon being visible. If you want to join in, light a candle during this time and meditate and see joy and happiness throughout the world. Every little bit helps the Earth and the people with healing. Did you know that cheap incense are typically machine rolled? And these have chemicals added. At The Crystal Point we prefer to stick to the old fashion hand-rolled Indian incense for a more natural way and where possible we stock NZ grown too, so you have a huge range to pick from.
Incense has many uses too. Often used to assist with Meditation, Grounding ones Spiritual self into ones body, and cleansing of negative energies. If you find yourself arguing with your friend or family member, try cleansing the energy in the room by lighting an incense stick and see how you feel. Go on, experiment. This is also another good reason to remove your shoes at your door, to keep unwanted energy out of your home.
